RECAP/RESULTS

DNA vs YOUNG KANNON
I went into this battle believing that Young Kannon would come his strongest against DNA. He had no choice. For years Kannon has been this battle rapper who is better than the NuBorn's of battle rap but he doesnt seem to get the big battles. He was on a roll in 2011 all the way to his Swave Sevah battle. Once SMACK gave him Swave and Kannon dropped the ball so to speak I personally lost interest in backing him up. His performances after that where great as well. He arguably beat JC, Chilla Jones and Danja Zone after that. He had a good battle with Real Deal in the UFF as well. So this battle was the end all be all for Kannon. DNA always is a worthy opponent. I don't remember him ever being bagged in a battle except for against Pass(Passwurdz) and maybe Big T. He always does enough and although some people may feel he lost a battle he still does enough to leave even a slightest bit of doubt in some peoples minds. I wanted Kannon to win this battle and I predicted a debatable battle with Y.K 2-1. Here is a recap of what happened.

•First main card battle of the night is DNA vs YK.
•DNA up first and he’s doing his Lux flow he used in that vlog and the Jesse Rican battle.
•DNA lost some momentum towards the end of his round, left the door open.
•YK is going off in his first, he keeps this up and he’s got the round for sure.
•Amazing first so far by Kannon, he’s been on a crazy run.
•First round clearly goes to YK, second round on DNA.
•DNA’s doing alright in his second, nothing crazy.
•Going to be hard for him to win the crowd back, if he don’t pick it up.
•DNA started freestyle, taking shots at YK’s homies, the crowd got into it.
•Kannon’s going crazy in the second as well, starting to look real one sided.
•Another really strong round from Kannon, 2-0 so far.
•DNA’s third is alright so far, but it’s just not enough compared to YK’s rounds. •A lot of freestyling from DNA in the third.
•YK’s third is dope too, it’s clear he took this battle more seriously than DNA.
•They’re asking the crowd who won, everybody’s saying YK 3-0.
•Hopefully this means YK will starting getting the battles he deserves, he’s been killing it for a while.
•Strippers up for intermission.

Here is a brief recap from both MC's after the battle

ARSONAL vs YUNG ILL

This is a battle I wanted to see for awhile. Yung Ill might possibly be my favorite battle rapper and Arsonal is possibly one of the best to do it. Yung Ill called Arsonal out in a recent blog. He seemed motivated in his last 2 battles and the fact that he was asking to battle Ars made me feel as though we would have the Yung Ill we have been asking for. Arsonal always shows up to a battle with the exception of Charron and hes not stupid, he knows Ill can be the best one out of the St. Louis group. With that being said here are the results to this battle

•First round on Ill and he’s spazzing, strong start.
•This is the Ill people have been waiting for, hopefully he keeps it up.
•Dope first round from Ill, it’s on Arsonal.
•Arsonal’s starting off strong as well, this is turning out to be a great battle so far.
•Crowd’s going crazy for Ars right now, we got a battle.
•They tries stopping Ars for time, but he kept going.
•Really strong round from both, Ars is going way over the time limits.
•Yung Ill is doing a lot of jokes in the second, clowning on Ars.
•Another really strong round from Ill, he ended it kind of flat though.
•Ars is having a solid second as well, crowd is into his performance.
•“His momma blowing me, trying to get me to work, like an old Contra game” – Ars
•“He need a prescription… Ain’t got five cents to put cheese on a whopper, but he’ll feed his addiction” – Ars
•Crowd is solidly behind Ars in the second, he’s got the venue going crazy.
•Yung Ill started his third off crazy, this could end up being battle of the night.
•Ill pulled out a prop, and is using it to clown on Ars some more.
•Ill freestyled a bit at the end of his round, though.
•It’s on Ars, and he’s picking right up where he left off.
•Ars is going to end up edging this battle, he’s too polished.
•Overall, really good battle from both though.
•It’s close enough that Ill could end up winning on cam, Ars is always gonna have the live crowd.

Here is a video recap of Arsonal after the battle with Yung Ill

B MAGIC vs JC
This is one of my fantasy match-ups that I've been asking to see for years. At least since 2012. I cant even begin to fathom who I think would win or who could be better but I do know that the both of them on there A Game would make a classic battle. JC is a underrated punch-liner and Magic is a underrated lyricist. Both are known for the opposite qualities I just listed. JC clearly shows his punchline ability when he battled Charlie Clips and B Magic showed his lyricism when he went at Chilla Jones. I can't call this one I just know I need to see it.

  • JC is wasting no time, you can tell he means business.
  • “You got killed by Will/wheel, like Brandy was driving” – JC
  • “I heard Magic was married, I mean that shit… I would say congratulations, but I seen that bitch” – JC
  • It’s on Magic, and his punches are landing left and right.
  • We kick in your door, poppin’ in your living room like JC” – Magic
  • This battle’s definitely living up to the hype so far, crazy first from both.
  • First could go either way, gotta wait for the footage.
  • JC’s picking it up in his second, best JC we’ve seen in a while.
  • “Like Aunt Vivian, I black out and get to lighting that bitch up” – JC
  • Hard to quote bars with both dudes landing left and right, crazy battle.
  • Both of them went off in the second, this battle’s shaping up to be a classic.
  • JC’s third might be his best round yet.
  • “You’re a Flintstone car, you had to start with defeat/da feet” – JC
  • Magic comes out swinging with some haymakers to start his third.
  • “Get Ty Law in order, before he become a special victim” – Magic
  • Definite classic, that’ll be decided once it drops on video.
  • Most people are edging the 2rd to JC, 2nd to Magic, 1st is a toss up.
  • One of those battles that will come down to preference, and be debated for years.

AYE VERB vs SWAVE SEVAH
I made an article on this battle earlier. I am going to stick with what I thought about this battle prior to it happening. This is one of the last grudge matches battle rap has seen. This sort of took effect after the Charlie Clips vs Aye Verb battle. It all started with some back and forth twitter rants with Swave saying Clips beat the hell out of Verb in there battle. Verb didn't like that very much and attacked Swave along with other battlers in a song called "Fuck Ya'll"

Swave then responded to the song in a blog filmed in September of 2011. He was in a park in N.Y and basically said he wanted to take off Verbs head for saying his name on a track.

The seeds where planted and there for a couple blogs followed around this time as well

Now the battle didnt carry much hype behind it other than Swave calling Verb out on these couple of blogs. Verb didnt respond at all. The URL event called Motor City Mayhem happened where Aye Verb battled o-Red for one round and Swave was in the building. Apparently Verb agreed to battle Swave when they spoke to each other and they didn't talk about it much after that. Obviously no battle took place. I believe there was a URL Battle Rap Arena interview or something where Swave was asked about the Verb battle and this is where the hype and momentum came in place for the battle to happen.

Fans began rallying together on a campaign to get Verb to battle Swave. The majority of fans that you heard speaking about this battle where saying Verb was scared to battle Swave because of Swaves ability to break down and expose his opponents. This went on for almost 3 years. It was mainly on the URL Battle Rap Arena but never the less it seemed that the "diehard" battle rap fans wanted this battle to happen. UnBias Review Group rallied to make this happen as well. Verb told people he wasn't scared and said he just wanted his money and he'll bag him. Then there was rumors saying he was offered the money and he just said no. It went on & on. During this time we got alot of great interviews from Verb making fun of Swave and etc. Here are some of the blogs that took place around this time.

So after countless interviews, blogs, fan rants and etc the battle was booked by Gorilla Warfare. Ms. Gracie paid Verb what he wanted and finally everybody shut up and stopped with the whole "he's ducking" situation. Now in my honest opinion I like Swave and I think he goes in. He was supposed to main event versus Daylyt at Summer Madness and his bars for Daylyt impressed the shit out of me. I think he would of killed Daylyt with the shit he had and its a shame he couldn't spit it live.

Aye Verb in my opinion asides from Loaded Lux might LYRICALLY be the best battler to do this. I've seen all of his battles and I've seen a majority of Swaves battle. Honestly, I couldn't see why people thought Swave could just kill Verb. Asides from Swave not winning his top tier battles (he lost to Dizaster clearly and Head Ice)I used the Suge battle as a example of what would happen against Verb. I knew Swave was going to try and expose Verb but would it work. Hitman already did this and argubably lost. When Swave battled Suge he did win but not by much and its debatable. He tried to expose Suge and it just didn't work. Suge isn't Verb, Verb is extremely better. Now i'm not going to sit here and act as if Swave needs to 3-0 Verb in order to win. But after years of calling out Verb I expect him to win or get the fuck out of here. Did I think he would win? No. Did I think Verb would body him? No. Did I think Swave could possibly win? Sure. I thought he has been writing for 3 years so why not. But enough with this rant, lets get into the results of this grudge match.

  • Next up is Verb vs Swave.
  • Aye Verb’s going first, Round 1 on him.
  • Verb is starting off real lyrical, crowd is rocking with him.
  • “Karate only works on niggas that do karate” – Verb
  • Verb’s first round was serious, it’s on Swave.
  • Swave’s got some shit in his first as well, turning into a great battle so far.
  • Swave lost some momentum towards the end of his round.
  • Might’ve cost him the first, Round 2 on Verb.
  • Aye Verb starts out the second with “It’s Showtime” and the crowd is loving it.
  • This is the Verb that’s hard for anyone to beat, crazy round.
  • “You from Harlem, where niggas rock glitter kicks and do shit like this..” Verb does the Harlem shake.
  • Second round on Swave.
  • “I’m gonna beat you with my bare hand, so I can feel your life leaving you.” – Swave
  • “I’ll air a smith/Aerosmith and make These/D’s mc’s run if they walk this way” – Swave
  • Swave’s getting booed and the crowd is yelling 2-0, host is telling them to let him rap.
  • The crowd is not fucking with Swave at all, they just want to hear Verb’s third.
  • Swave had a Philip Seymour Hoffman bar.
  • Verb is preaching to him in the third.
  • “Y’all knew I’d bag this shit. Battle rap is for weirdos and strange niggas, you can have this shit.” – Verb
  • Verb’s third was basically explaining why he’d done with battle rap.
  • Overral Verb’s third wasn’t as strong as his first two, but he may already have the battle won.
  • The crowd is heckling Swave again in his third, not really giving him a chance.
  • Swave has some shit here and there, but overrall the crowd’s just not into his content.
  • Battle’s over, looking like a clear 3-0 for Verb in the venue.

Regardless of how this turns out on camera I have heard a couple of Swaves "excuses". I do respect that he admits he lost and gives Aye Verb his props but there is no excuse for why he wasn't prepared. This was the battle he asked for and wanted for 3 years. He had his own homies put the money up for Verb. Now you are basically saying you aren't inspired..Wow...I'm done. I think it should be safe to say Swave won't ever make it to top tier. He also had another shot earlier this year against Arsonal and as you might of guessed he had a lackluster performance there as well.

Here are both Swaves and Verbs Recaps of the battle

HITMAN HOLLA vs CHARLIE CLIPS

This was not a battle I really was anticipating to be quite honest. I loved Clips last few performances and he is a dangerous BATTLE rapper. I put emphasis behind the word battle because some rappers are extremely lyrical, some can punch hard, some scheme, some have great stage presence but Clips he just knows how to battle really well. He can freestyle at any moment and beat your writtens. He doesn't have to have the edge on you in any particular category because he just knows how to attack his opponent the right way. Against Surf he attacked Surf in a way that made Surf look like a little PG battler coming into the URL and the same goes for Conceited. I think Aye Verb is a better rapper than Clips but Clips was a better battler on that given night. Some artists are great rappers but they can't battle as good as they rap. Clips could be the best BATTLER right now. I need to see him battle Hollow Da Don for me to really make a final decision on that. Hitman is a gifted performer. One of the most popular and one of my favorites I feel he beat O-Red and his last 2 performances where really well. One thing I can say about Hitman is when he does punch, it lands twice as hard as the average battle rapper because of his stage presence and aggression. If he came to a battle with nothing but all bars then noone might be able to beat him. So this battle in reality is shaped up to be a classic but I guess I cared more about the other battles on the card. Hitman has been spouting that this is his last battle so I doubt he would show up under prepared. I still predicted Clips 2-1.

Here are the results from the battle!

  • Hitman vs Clips is up next.
  • Hitman won the coin toss, and said he wants to go first.
  • Hitman’s starting off really strong, like usual.
  • “I got a brand new Nina, this bitch ugly …which one of yall gone take one for the team.” – Hitman
  • Hitman with a remix, not his best, but the crowd loved it.
  • “You never put your cans up nigga, you tell jokes like a stand up, but I’m a stand up nigga” – Hitman
  • Solid first from Hitman, it’s on Clips.
  • “Soon as it quiet down, I’d smack that bitch and make yoour queen flip/Queenzflip in a quiet room” – Clips
  • “I’d rather use a clipper that’s this small, when he get to shooting, his brother assist him… that’s Cliff Paul” – Clips
  • Dope first round from both, Hitman started the second with a crazy rebuttal.
  • Hitman’s on fire so far in his second, we got a battle going on.
  • “I’ll turn Chicago into a Harlem night” – Hitman
  • And Clips took the crowd right back to start his second, we got another classic on our hands.
  • “You Danica Patrick, you just a tough bitch with a lot of drive” – Clips
  • Both are having insane performances, but Clips’ punches might be landing a little harder.
  • “I want to mush you, but you pussy… it’s hard to get that smell off” – Clips
  • Hitman with another crazy rebuttal to start the third, this could go either way.
  • “A nigga owe me 10 dollars, I need it… I’m knocking on his door with a 357, like it ain’t 4 yet” – Hitman
  • “Shooting, and he ain’t opened the door yet” Hitman, continued off the line above
  • Holla’s got the whole room shaking, crowd is going crazy.
  • Hitman’s really going off in this third, crazy performance from him.
  • People are all calling it a classic already, and the battle’s not even over.
  • And Clips starts hitting right back to start his third.
  • “The clip so long, Vine won’t let me make an account.” – Clips
  • Clips said he got $20K to battle Hollow, straight cash.
  • Battle was crazy from the start, and just kept getting better.
  • Everyone’s calling it battle of the night, could go either way.

BIG T vs BIG KANNON

Now while others actually didn't seem to anticipate this particular battle I loved the idea. I for one am tired of all the bullshit unity within cities in battle rap. After the URL started people from the MidWest particularly acted as if you could not battle or have any negative feelings towards another battle rapper within your region. Now thats cool if you guys are in a group together but other than that there shouldn't be any loyalty in competitive lyricism. When Hitman vs Aye Verb happened it was excellent and my favorite battle to have taken place yet. Then Verb battled X Factor and that battle was underrated. In that battle the whole 3 rounds X factor calls Verb a snake and etc for battling 2 MidWest battlers. I always wanted to see Verb vs Big T, Hitman vs Calicoe, Yung Ill vs X-Factor, and alot of different MidWest match ups. Big Kannon is possibly the most improved battler to be doing this currently. He is also a great rapper as well.

This rift between Big Kannon and Big T started over some comments Big T made basically stating that he was the King of Chicago. Along with other comments made by Big T, I believe Kannon took offense to this. He made the record called "King Who" (it can be heard @--> http://soundcloud.com/kannon-1/king-who-big-t-tay-roc-diss )After that track Big T basically complained and there where more twitter rants. Big Kannon then challenged Big T to a battle in which Big T declined and ranted about top tier status. Big Kannon made a blog addressing everything a bringing a great perspective into the situation.

Somewhere after this the battle was locked in and it was a go. Big T dissed Kannon in the trailer for the event (skip to the last 3 minutes or so)

My predication for this battle is Big Kannon 2-1. I feel Big T will not take Kannon as serious as he should and add that to the fact that Kannon has been on a killing spree since M. Ciddy and I think you can understand my prediction. I think this battle will be a classic and I love that this is a main event. If Kannon does win it will catapult him into the level he deserves to be.

Without anymore of a delay here are the results for the Main Event!

  • Main event is up next.
  • Big Kannon’s going first, Round 1 on him.
  • Crowd doesn’t seem to be responding to Kannon’s bars so far.
  • He’s starting to pick it up a bit, took a shot at John John.
  • There was some good moments in BK’s first, decent round.
  • It’s on Big T.
  • Big T’s clowning to start out, taking shots at Gracie too.
  • “When a buck fifty put a smile on his neck, I’ll kill him with kindness.” Big T
  • Just when Big T was getting going, he choked.
  • Kannon just killed him with a rebuttal to start the second.
  • “He said he’d be good in the ring. A legend choking in his 1st round… Look at me king! – Kannon
  • Kannon’s going crazy in this second, crowd is rocking him with now.
  • “I’ll fuck him up, and turn him to a button up, that’s a casual T” – Kannon
  • That choke was a definite turning point, Kannon is spazzing now.
  • It’s on Big T now.
  • Now it’s Big T who’s not really getting a reaction from the crowd.
  • “U don’t chilaka boo shit? It sounds stupid? Bow! Thats my new shit, I call it a bowel movement” – Big T
  • Big T’s starting to get his momentum back, landed a couple of big punches.
  • Big T did a drum sound, and said he’d Nick Cannon him.
  • “Tell the fans after this battle, I can’t shake their hands… cuz I still got Kannon on my arms, like MegaMan” – Big T
  • Big T said Gracie’s a fotrune cookie, she opens up and nobody wants to eat it.
  • Big T did a great job turning things around, it’s Round 3 on Kannon.
  • Kannon starts the third with another mean rebuttal.
  • “How many lines he say playing grace, you eating cuz of her, you should be saying grace.” – Kannon
  • Kannon picked up in the 3rd, right where he left off in the 2nd, another crazy round.
  • Big T’s fighting back in the third, he’s making a battle out of it.
  • Despite the slow start, they’ve really turned things around in the 2nd and 3rd.
  • Turned into a dope battle, most seem to be edging it to Kannon.
